Hi Mommy’s Friends,
I hope you haven’t missed me too much. I’ve been super busy taking care of my new baby sister...along with mom, dad… the house, my neighborhood, etc. I’ll be honest. I didn’t expect to take on so much responsibility so soon. I’m only a year old. (And, mom and dad totally forgot my first birthday. I’m still not over that.)
Since it’s been a while, I thought I’d give you an update on what’s going on at The House on High Street, from my perspective.
Back in September, I noticed that mommy was acting a little strange. I thought it was caused by the abduction, but now I realize it must have been because mommy was expecting! I was still just a naive little puppy back then. Napping most of the time.
But, I must have slept for a record long time, because somehow I totally missed the birth of my sister. All I know, is that I woke up from my nap and there she was. Already 5 weeks old! Mom miraculously got rid of her baby weight. (I don’t see how because mom eats more than any human I’ve ever been around. Don’t tell her that I said that.) But, kudos to mom. She only has a little more baby weight to lose.
So, at first, I did not like my baby sister. In fact. I was very mad at mommy and daddy for keeping this a secret from me. They know that I run the household, so this was not acceptable.
She was really small. But heavens to betsy, she made my bark sound like a whisper!
Whenever mom and dad were not looking, I would observe this new creature and whisper things in her ear.
I will say she was very cute. She inherited my brown eyes. You’re welcome, dad. I know how you like mom’s brown eyes.
In just a few days, I began to fall in love in with my little sister. What can I say? She is so helpless and in need of a big brother.
Sometimes mom says I can “kiss my sister”. I do kiss her a lot. But, I have to watch because she is getting strong and has a vicious backhand.
I’ve been teaching my little sister a lot of new tricks! She can roll over. Just like me. She can sit. Just like me. She’s eating big people food. Just like me. Well, not waffles or pizza yet. She’ll have to wait a while for that. Poor girl.
I’ll admit, it’s a little exhausting looking out for my baby sis on top of everything else I do around here. Everyone wants to come and visit, lately. They’re not allowed to get close to her until I CHECK THEM OUT!
We have our own little language, that mom and dad don’t understand. I remind her that we need to stick together and keep mom and dad on their toes.
Still, I love my family very much. I am the favorite and always will be. Mom and I have a deal. When she is taking care of baby sis, I give them “space”. But, after baby sis goes to bed…We have a PAR-TAY!
Well, I need to get back to my responsibilities now. It’s not easy being a big brother and King of the World. Please don’t miss me too much.
