This is my favorite time of the year! I love the colors of fall. The smell of the crisp air. The boots, scarves, and hats that come out of my cedar closet. And, of course everything pumpkin! Pumpkin pie, pumpkin beer, pumpkin martini’s, pumpkin scented candles…
Last year, I started a Facebook Live Holiday Series that was pretty popular. I shared all about my favorite holiday items, recipes, decorating tips, etc. You’ll have to let me know if you’re interested in tuning in to another series this year. (Have you “liked” my Facebook page yet so you can receive notifications?)
I decided to do a seasonal review called “My Favorite Things”, here on the blog. So, you’ll have access to four of these articles, each year. I spend a lot of time reviewing these products, recipes, trends, etc. They’ve all made the list because they are unique, the best quality for the price (or amount of effort), and can add a bit of extraordinary to your life. I hope you can get some fantastic and fun ideas from this list.
My Favorite Things – FALL 2017
1.) Thigh high boots. (AKA Over the Knee) You’ll definitely be seeing these a lot more, this season. Hopefully, not just with skimpy little skirts. In my opinion, if you’re going to wear sexy boots, you need to keep your overall look tamed with a modest outfit. Consider wearing these boots with a pretty dress, skinny jeans and feminine blouse, or (if your skirt is on the shorter side) paired with a long coat. I also prefer the fabric boot over the leather, as the fabric option is a bit softer and classier. I snagged a pair from DSW, and you can check out the deal here.
2.) Velvet Pumpkins. These are so pretty, and most come scented as well. Sure, I like to pick fresh pumpkins every fall. But, these are something I’d like to give as a gift or keep on a coffee table without fear of spoiling. You can get these here.
3.) Pumpkin Martinis. Made with Captain Morgan’s Jack-O-Blast Rum! My friend, Tommy, introduced these to me, last year. Now, this is a staple in my home during the holidays. I have yet to meet a guest who has turned down a pumkin martini, this time of year! (Recipe, coming soon.)
4.) Michael Kohrs Wristlet. I typically carry a larger handbag in the Fall. But, sometimes, I prefer to travel light. (Like when I’m shopping or already carrying a diaper bag.) This wristlet is just the right size for my smart phone and the bare necessities. ($$ and credit cards : ) You can grab your own MK wristlet, here at the Michael Kohrs online outlet. If you’d like to see what I call the most extraordinary diaper bag, you can check it out here. (Yes, it’s a designer tote bag, and it does the trick.)
5.) Venus Drop Statement Earrings. I just got these from Baublebar. They are so pretty and unique! I will say, they are a little heavier than standard earrings. But, that’s one reason why they’re called, “Statement” earrings. Glamorous and feminine, these beauties can be worn day-to-night. They have a unique rose-gold plating, and a stunning crystal floral centerpiece. Go ahead and make a statement this fall!
6. MAC Lipstick – Touch. This lightweight lipstick is the perfect color for this season. It’s not too dark and not too light. The earthy tone makes it compatible with all the colors of fall. MAC is one of my favorite lipstick lines. It has great lasting power and a really unique sheer-to-medium buildable coverage. Get, MAC-Touch, here.
7.) Ivory Ankle Booties. Apparently, you can wear white after Labor Day, now. Please don’t tell anyone, I’ve been doing this for many years. (That’s the rebel in me, I guess.) At least now, I can wear my favorite color all year round with no fear of getting schooled. If you’re a little reluctant to wear white, after the summer, go for a suede or an ivory-color. These booties would look gorgeous with jeans and a white, ivory, or champagne colored blouse. You can grab the first pair, off of Amazon, for less than $100. Amazon.com
8.) Baby Turbans. These are perfect for baby girls, this time of year. When the weather is warm, then suddenly chilly. I like how these are lightweight and so adorable. You can snag a pack of SEVEN for less than $20.00 off of Amazon.
9. Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake. Last weekend, we hosted an impromptu football party. My next-door neighbor made this recipe and it was ridiculously delicious and decadent! Scott and I practically wrestled for the last piece, the next day. She made her own graham cracker crust and I would recommend doing the same. I’m definitely making this for Thanksgiving dinner in addition to the traditional pumpkin pie (because I’m a traditional girl). But, I won’t be surprised if this goes twice as fast! Yes. It’s that good! You can find the recipe here.
10.) Metallic Nail Polish – ILNP: Juliette. In case you haven’t heard of the Indie nail polish brand, (ILNP stands for I love nail polish), this is a fairly new, vegan nail polish brand that has a few unique formulas. I’m crazy about their holographic line which contains no glitter and surprisingly, has very easy removal! None of ILNP’s nail polishes contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, or Dibutyl Phthalate. These are chemicals in most nail polishes that can be harmful. I’m happy to report that these gorgeous nail polishes are only $10 a bottle. If you want to have a little party on your nails, this season, this is definitely the way to go! Shop, here.
11.) Burlap Mantle Banners. I love, LOVE these. I’m honestly not exactly sure why. Perhaps, because they add a childlike beauty to your home decor. I prefer these banners in the burlap material, and you can very easily make these yourself! But, if you prefer saving some time, you can purchase an already-made banner from Amazon.
12.) The PERFECT Thanksgiving Dress. You better believe I snagged this faster than I can eat a Hershey bar! Friends, this dress is so beautiful! It looks great with ballet flats, over the knee boots, booties, with leggings, without. Not to mention, this is a great look for work. It runs true to size, and it’s very comfy. LOFT is always running extraordinary sales, so check out this dress right here!
Last, but not least…
13.) Plaid Wrap – Loft. I just snagged one of these during Loft’s half-price sale! (Did you hear my announcement on Instagram? You need to be following me to get the skinny on these deals!) Anyway, this is super cozy, casual yet versatile necessity. This wrap looks super stylish with just a white tee and jeans, as well as with a dressier outfit, like black dress pants and a solid colored blouse. Do you see it? Do you see yourself in it? If so, you can find it, here. Remember, if you’re following me on Instagram, I can let you know when it’s on sale again!
Well, that about sums it up. My fall favorites. I’ll be showing off some of these products on my Instagram stories, over the next few weeks. I hope to see you there!
Until then, I’d love to find out some of your Fall Favorites!
