My Favorite Green Smoothie

I don’t know why I was afraid of green smoothies, for so long. I love mint chocolate-chip ice cream, so drinking a green frozen liquid shouldn’t have been an issue. As far as the main ingredient being spinach? Well, this smoothie doesn’t taste like spinach at all. It tastes like a banana-vanilla milkshake. Another great way to get those greens in. 

Now, as far as the yogurt, I’ve been on a mad hunt for non-dairy and non-soy yogurts. I’m not a fan of goat’s milk…or goat’s cheese…or anything about a goat, really. I’ve resolved that almond milk and coconut based yogurts are a great alternative. (If you’ve forgotten why I’m reducing dairy to a bare minimum, lately, check out this post.)  Of course, you can use any yogurt you like.

And, the flax seed? Oh, the flax seed needs to be celebrated. The benefits of including flax seed into our diets is UN-BE-LIEVE-ABLE. From weight-loss to fighting cancer and menopausal symptoms! (Please check it out!)

Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/3 cup vanilla yogurt
  • Small Banana
  • 2 T flax seeds
  • 1 cup baby spinach

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in blender.
  2. Blend until you have a milkshake consistency. (Add water or more almond milk, if necessary.)
  3. Enjoy!
