I can’t believe it. Baby Blue is already 7 months old! Time is flying by, so fast. It seems like yesterday people were afraid to hold him, because he was so tiny! Here’s an update on our precious foster baby boy!
Baby Blue ~ 7 Months Old
First off, I need to confess that I made a mistake with his weight, on my last post! My scale must be off because the doctor’s scale read a few pounds lighter than 20lbs. (Does this mean I’m a few pounds lighter than I thought? LOL) Baby Blue is actually around 17lbs. right now. He’s still considered a very healthy weight! And, he’s definitely heavier than he is “tall”. That’s ok, though.
Baby Blue is starting to hit some special milestones. He’s rolling over, both ways. Feeding himself his favorite treats. (Yum yums!) And boy oh boy, he has the fastest reflexes I’ve ever seen on a baby! Whenever I’m holding him, if I grab something like a glass of water, he grabs on before I can even get it past him.
I love Baby Blue’s personality. He is becoming so lovable and cuddly. I personally believe it is because I hold him and kiss him, often! I know that some moms prefer putting their babies in the crib for naps, but I do try to hold him for most of his naps. I did this for Banana and Berry and it helped them so much!
Blue is able to stand and his lil chubby legs are getting stronger! Jumping is still his favorite, so Scott and I will hold his hands and let him jump on our lap. His laugh is infectious! He has the sweetest little voice.
Scott purchased a few toys from Amazon, last week, that Blue absolutely loves! They were very highly rated, and we can see why. These toys are great for teething and fine motor skills. (Oh, Blue has a few more teeth coming in. Overall, he’s doing “Ok” with teething.)
I’m starting to read board books, to Blue. Although he is more interested with grabbing the book and eating it.
Update on Reunification/Adoption
Last week, the judge changed the goal from “reunification” to “adoption”. So far, Blue’s Bio family has not shown much effort/interest in getting him back home. (I can’t provide details, but this is a given.) I will say that I have met Blue’s Bio Mom and she seems genuinely happy that he is in good hands. She thanked us and allows us to take him with us when we travel. This means so much to us.
Scott and I are hoping that as we approach the bonding period, that Blue’s Bio Family will consider his best interest. His new case worker and Law Guardian seem genuinely interested in him, above all. That’s all we can hope for. They see how well he is doing! Scott and I are just so thankful that we get to be a part of these critical months.
God bless Baby Blue!
